Around 10 million people each year are victims of identity theft, according Federal Trade Commission; some criminals try and assume the identity of a whole company.
So here are a few tips to help keep your business safe. Firstly, set up your defences. Do you have adequate firewalls, anti virus software etc.
Don't store credit card numbers, you don't need them and it's extremely risky. Make sure your employees know how to stay safe, simple steps like changing passwords regularly and using general security software tools.
Run your updates to stop criminals finding vulnerabilities in your system and encrypt all data or information that might help an ID theft or hackers.
And, if all else fails know what to do if it happens, have a security compliance plan in place.
