Before you crack out the credit card this Christmas when buying bargains online you need to make sure you do it safely by following a few easy steps, so you get what you want without falling foul to hackers and their scams.
Scan your system, to ensure no malicious codes are running through it. Update your software to make sure you aren’t open to exploitation.
Don't do any of your shopping on public or hared computer, you don't know whose used them before you and you don't know who might be able to see what you've been doing after you.
Check the URL at the top of the page, turn up your security and make sure you read everything very carefully before you buy.
Look to see if the padlock sign is at the end of the address bar, if you're using PayPal and it's not there, then something is wrong.
Finally, use a credit card to pay for goods, as if all else fails and you ended up getting defrauded, then in most cases in the UK you're bank is entitled to refund your money.
