When small businesses
build a website for selling goods, secure shopping facilities are among their top priorities.
But a new report by security technology firm AVG and GfK NOP suggests many small businesses should be as vigilant when it comes to protecting their own systems.
While 77 per cent of small firms admitted security threats could have an adverse effect on their business, fewer than half have an IT policy in place to ensure staff do not breach security by downloading potential threats.
And even though 83 per cent admitted the right protection level of IT security is critical for their business, one in seven respondents have no security software in place at all.
But the most important element for online retailers building a website remains the need for secure shopping facilities, with the UK Cards Association advising shoppers to look for the padlock symbol to protect their security.
Ensure your online business ticks consumers' security boxes by using a
website builder such as Mr Site's Takeaway website software.
