A group of prominent entrepreneurs has written to the government warning that a rise in Capital Gains Tax could hurt small businesses and damage economic recovery.
94 members of the entrepreneurial membership organisation The Supper Club all signed the letter to the Chancellor voicing their concerns.
The letter urges him to reintroduce taper relief on any headline rises in CGT to ensure that businessmen do not suffer if they have shares in the companies they work for.
The government has promised generous exceptions for entrepreneurial business activities, but many small business owners are worried that they have so far failed to give exact details about the pledge.
