Simply put, a Sitemap is a street directory or road map of your website's pages. A Sitemap can help make sure that Google knows about all the pages on your site, including pages that may not be able to be found by Google's normal crawling (information gathering) routines. Sitemaps give extra information about your website to Google, complementing Google's normal methods of crawling the web and can help Google crawl more of your website in a more efficient and speedy way.
